Different Pathways on our Lenten Journey

As we enter into the season of Lent, we reflect on Jesus’s time in the wilderness, following his solitary path of fasting, prayer, and reflection. The Church encourages us as followers of Christ to undertake our own spiritual journey during this time. Beyond the liturgy of Ash Wednesday, what are the various forms and practices that can shape and give meaning to this experience? The Emmanuel Worship Committee invites you to join in Different Pathways on Our Lenten Journey, a series of Wednesday evenings of supper and discussion that will explore the variety of traditions and practices that have helped Christians make the most of Lent.

Christmas at Emmanuel Church

Join us for Christmas Eve at Emmanuel Church.  Because the Fourth Sunday of Advent falls on December 24th, we will have only one service in the morning at 10:00 a.m.

Our celebration of Christmas Eve will be at 4:00 p.m. to accommodate those with small children or who don’t want to drive after dark.

As has been the custom for Newport’s Episcopal Churches, we all gather to worship together on Christmas Day.  This year, Trinity Church is hosting the Christmas Day service with Emmanuel’s rector, the Rev. Della Wager Wells preaching.

Please join us to celebrate the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Interactive Forum with the Rev. Canon Nicholas Porter

The Rev Canon Nicholas Porter will be our guest preacher and teacher. Father Nicholas is the founding director of Jerusalem Peacebuilders – a ministry of interfaith reconciliation that specializes in peace and leadership education in Jerusalem, Israel, and Palestine.

Instead, they shape and trigger behavior on the battlefields of Ukraine, among Israeli Jews and Palestinian Arabs, and in our lives today.

The Rev. Canon Nicholas Porter …
