Spiritual Gifts Sunday – Sept 12 at 8:45 am
St. Paul knew that the true wealth of any church lies in the unique talents, qualities, and passions that we bring to serve the world. When we bring them together in church, we become a Body of Christ.
In last year’s pledge campaign we invited the people of Emmanuel to fill out a Spiritual Gifts inventory and to put their three top Spiritual Gifts on the pledge card along with their financial pledge.
The key to Spiritual Gifts is that they lead us to activities that are life giving. Because we do them with enthusiasm and love, they feel effortless, nothing special. But they are very special to the people around us, who appreciate what we bring to the community.
Emmanuel is unusually blessed in the large percentage of members who take part in ministries and in the life of the church. The Stewardship Committee has enjoyed looking at the Spiritual Gifts results and seeing how well they match up with the ways that each of us serves.
Sunday, September 12, right after the 8 o’clock service we’ll have refreshments for all. Then Rev. Posy Jackson, a long-time student and teacher about Spiritual Gifts, will show how richly blessed we are in our combined gifts.
It’s not too late to do your own. Here below are links to the Inventory we used. Please mail a note with your three top gifts to Debbie Venancio c/o Emmanuel and we’ll include them, too!
