Emmanuel Parish Choir
The Parish Choir is open to all from high school age up. The Choir
leads and supports the congregation’s singing of the hymns and
service music. It also offers a choral anthem, a special piece of
music that either reflects the liturgical season or illuminates the
readings of the day.
The Choir is fortunate to have the vocal and musical leadership of
a Choral Scholar or Intern in each section. They provide support and
guidance to the volunteer members and allow for a wider variety of
music to be performed.
The repertoire of the choir ranges from English Tudor music to that
of the Twentieth Century. The style and sound of the choir strives
to be clean and clear with expressive diction and dynamics.
Participation in the choir is rewarding and also strenuous. A typical
weekly schedule is as follows:
Sunday morning
9:00 AM warm up rehearsal
10:00 AM Eucharist
Wednesday evenings
6:00 pm warm up rehearsal
6:30 pm Sunday on Wednesday Eucharist
7:15 pm full choir rehearsal
The choir also sings for all Christmas Eve services, Holy Week and
Evensong services in Advent, Lent and Eastertide.
