New Orleans Mission Trip

Emmanuel Church mission trip to New Orleans was the week of Saturday, April 12th through Saturday, April 19th. The group worked for Hands on New Orleans, www.handsonneworleans.org. Since March, 2006, Hands on New Orleans has brought in over 5,000 volunteers to assist in rebuilding the neighborhoods of New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Thank you to the parishioners and friends of Emmanuel Church for your support of our mission. You can find reports about the trip in the April and May 2008 entries on the Emmanuel Blog and photos in our online photo album.
The Counting Prayer

Here at Emmanuel, we have committed ourselves to saying the following prayer at each worship service: The world now has the means to end extreme poverty. We pray that we will have the will. Why not make this prayer part of your daily devotion and reflection?
Learn more about Counting Prayers here.
Emmanuel's Blog
As part of our continuing effort to use technology to better communicate
with parishioners and friends, we have created a blog called "Emmanuel
News and Commentary." The address is emmanuelnews.blogspot.com.
This is very much a work in progress, primarily because we are learning
how to do it as we go.
For now, members of the vestry and staff will have the ability to
post comments and articles. Everyone will have the ability to post
comments on any of the posts.
Our hope is that this will create the opportunity for more interactive
communication between all of us who make up this wonderful community.
Give it a try.
If you would like to have posting privileges, please send me an
email.
Annual Fund 2008
The 2008 Annual Fund Campaign is ongoing.
What is it about? Two things: our personal spiritual discipline
and our ability to fund the work that God calls us to do in and
through Emmanuel Church.
We believe that giving is a spiritual discipline and is an important
component of our spiritual practice. It helps us to hold on loosely
to the things of this world. We also believe that God is working
in and through the people of Emmanuel Church. It takes money to
do God's work. We believe that the work that we do is worth supporting
financially. We believe that God transforms the world through people
like you and me who have made a commitment to being God's instruments
in the world! We believe that being a disciple of Jesus Christ is
exciting and enriching. We believe in what we are doing!
We continue to collect pledges for 2008. If you have not yet made yours please do so as soon as possible. We can only reach this ambition goal with your help. Pledge onlne here.
